Device Groups Vs Device Profile

    The Device Groups section allows you to organize your devices into different groups for ease of management. The groups can be defined based on any criteria by the Admin.

  • Device Profile

    Device Profiles allow you to create a profile with pre-selected apps, Whitelist websites, custom branding, and set of optional settings. The Device Profile can then be directly applied to a single device/ multiple devices / device groups.

How to change an Exit Passcode from Device Profile?

Following are the steps-

  1. On the dashboard, click on the Device Profile tab.

  2. Select the Device Profile you want to edit.

  3. Now, click on the Edit option on the right side.

  4. Device1
  5. Change the Exit Passcode on the top, as shown below.

  6. Device2
  7. Click on Optional Settings.

  8. Next, update the settings by clicking on Update Profile.

You have successfully changed the Exit Passcode!.

Note:By default, the EXIT PASSCODE is a 4-digit code but while changing the Passcode you can use more than 4 digits.

What is the Optional settings tab used for?

After you enter the Device Profile tab, you need to edit any selected profile and then click on the Optional settings tab. Here, you will find all additional settings to where you can modify the profile settings.

Uses as per the options given-

  1. Set a Default Application to run always - You can choose an application from your set of allowed apps to make it run all the time on the device. You can also add an interval to delay the app to launch, this will help the user to go to home screen.

  2. Volume Settings - Here, you can control the Ringer and the Music volume of the device by specifying the desired range of the volume.

  3. Timezone Settings - Configure timezone settings for the current profile i.e. you can allow the end-user to access the Timezone inside the MobiLock Pro app or can directly set the Timezone for the users.

  4. Where to configure it?

    Timezone settings can be configured under Utilities → Timezone Settings

  5. Wi-Fi settings - The wifi settings of the current profile can be configured here which includes allowing the users to access the Wifi Connection menu inside the MobiLock Pro app and allow them to connect or disconnect the Wifi network.

    Wi-Fi can be configured under Utilities → Wifi Settings

  7. Hotspot Settings - Here, you can configure the Hotspot Settings with this profile. For example, allowing or disallowing the end-users to change the Hotspot connection state on the device.

  8. Note:Hotspot and Wifi cannot be used simultaneously.

    Where to configure it?

    Hotspot settings can be configured under Utilities → Hotspot Settings

  9. Manage Home Screen and Display Settings - The device home screen settings for this profile that can be managed in this section are-

    • Show/Hide bottom navigation bar

    • Set device screen in fullscreen mode

    • Keep device screen always on

    • Allow changing of brightness

    • Set the screen brightness

    Note: In order to access the keyboard and back key, the user needs to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. If fullscreen mode is enabled, then heads-up notification won't appear on devices.

  10. Mobile Data and Power Menu options This option allows the users to control the Mobile data settings like data on/off etc. and hide the power menu options on the device, so that the user won’t be able to Power Off the device.

  11. Notification Center & Device Rotation Settings - Enabling this will allow the users to drag a Notification bar from the top of the screen.

How to enable apps for different models of devices in a Device Profile?

In case, where the Admin has different device models registered on the dashboard, in the Select apps section of the Device Profiles, you will have to type the name of the app that you want to enable on all the devices in the search field, this will show the list which you will have to enable.

For example, if you want to enable the Camera app

Following are the steps-

  1. On the dashboard, click on the Device Profile tab.

  2. Select the Device Profile you want to edit.

  3. Now, click on the Edit option on the right side.

  5. From the Select apps section, enter the word Camera, in the search bar, A list of different Camera apps will appear, as shown in the image below.

  6. Enable the apps of your choice, by clicking on the toggle button.

  7. Now, click on the Next button.

  9. Now Click on Optional Settings.

  10. Next, update the settings by clicking on Update Profile

Device Groups

The Device Groups section allows you to organize your devices into different groups for ease of management. The groups can be defined based on any criteria by the Admin.

How can Group devices be remotely rebooted and refreshed?

With this functionality, the administrators can reboot and/or refresh the device groups from the dashboard.

Note: Reboot is available only on supported devices i.e. Samsung devices activated with KNOX, LG devices with LG GATE and Sony devices with Sony SDK. This feature will also work on Rooted Devices. Also, for other devices running on Android OS 7.0+ with MobiLock Pro app set with a Device Owner.

How to use this feature?

  1. a. To Reboot devices

    1. On the Dashboard, go to Device Groups

    2. Select a Device Group and click on View Details

    3. Click on the three dots next to Group Name

    4. Click on Reboot Devices.

  2. b. To Refresh devices

    1. On the Dashboard, go to Device Groups

    2. Select a Device Group and click on View Details

    3. Click on the three dots next to Group Name

    4. Click on Refresh Devices

Some things to remember -

If the device is not part of any group, you can refresh/reboot from Devices

Following are the steps-

  1. On the dashboard, click on the Devices tab on the left sidebar

  2. Click on View Details

  3. Now, click on the settings icon

  4. Now, on Refresh/ Reboot Device as shown in the images below.
